Included as part of the beginner kayaking course, the flowing water session is intended to introduce beginners to paddling on moving water without rapids. You'll get a chance to do all the strokes you learned in the pool on a river.

Included as part of the beginner kayaking course, the flowing water session is intended to introduce beginners to paddling on moving water without rapids. You'll get a chance to do all the strokes you learned in the pool on a river.

 

Additionally, two essential skills, the eddy turn and the ferry will be introduced, since these skills can only be learnt on a river.

 

Note: This session is a pre-requisite for any further club trips.

 

Duration: 2-3 hours

Location: Quesnell Bridge, near Fort Edmonton Park - may change based on construction activity this year.

Cost: Club Membership

Evening/weekend in May, depending on river conditions. There will be a couple of sessions given the number of paddlers who require this clinic.

Prerequisites: the Beginner Kayak Course and the River Theory Session.
